ICU

Hi All, hope everyone is well.  We are in the ICU.  Nurses are amazing.  Surgeon stopped by several times with the last time being around 9:30pm last night.  He's got really good bed side manner and took the time to show Megan and I on the computer the imaging of her brain with the electrodes and deep tissue probes inside.

Meara is in a lot of pain.  She wakes up about every two hours after the pain meds wear off.  She is then given another dose.   She's taking a drug that starts with a T (can't remember the whole name at the moment) and also morphine.  Once they insert the syringe into machine it goes through her central line quickly and she usually falls asleep again.  Just now, she complained that her throat hurt from the intubation but is falling back asleep.

I'll try to take a picture tomorrow and include it in the blog.  She still has some seeping of fluid from the incision area and her face is swollen.  The incision starts at her forehead and goes back down to the back of her head and then back up to her above her ear and down in front of her ear.  She has staples where the incision is and the wires are coming out of the incision area.  She is beautiful and is talking, asking for chicken and french fries.  She in on a clear diet until her stomach is settled.  It'll be awhile I'm guessing till she can have solid foods.

Megan and I are able to stay in the ICU room with her.  We are up with her when she wakes up and reassure her that we love her and so do her family and friends.

James and Bethany took care of Ainsley all day yesterday so my parents could be here at the hospital with us.  Ainsley likes to snuggle with James.  He said that she fell asleep on him while he was carrying her around home depot yesterday afternoon.  Thanks you two for taking care of our babe.  We won't ever forget it.

I'll try to update again later today after we get moved upstairs to the EMU (Epilepsy Monitoring Unit).   Thanks again for all of the prayers and love.  It makes such a huge difference.

Love,
Aaron & Megan
