Chicken & French Fries (or Mac & Cheese)

Hi All, hope your day was good.

I included another picture of Meara.  She is sleeping again but you can see in the picture the set up now that she is hooked up to the EEG equipment.  They electrode wires coming out of her head are now hooked up to the colorful ribbon of wires that feed into the machine.  These electrodes will literally map (thinking of it as a GPS) the exact location of where the seizures are originating from.  She hasn't had any seizures yet so we are hoping as she gets more rest, thus able to be more active, thus get more tired that she'll have plenty of them.  Obviously, we normally don't wish for them but in this case the more she has the more information the Drs have, etc., etc.

She doesn't know it yet but when she wakes up we'll share the good news that she's been cleared for her chicken and french fries.  Although she might change her mind for mac and cheese (her other favorite).  Either way, big victory.

Grandma Janet and Pop Pop John brought Ainsley to the hospital to visit today.  Meara was sleeping the entire time but she did open her eyes when she needed more meds so you could see that she was aware that they were there.

Thanks for taking care of us through prayers and good wishes.  The positive encouragement is what we rely on in those moments where thoughts lead to the what ifs.  I don't know much.  I do know that this experience is rich with meaning and purpose.  Everything happens for a reason and as long as we are open and generous with our heart and soul our path (no matter how easy or difficult) is the right one.  Honesty.  Empathy.  Love.  Healing.  Peace.  All of these words enter my heart when I'm reminded of why we are on this journey and why Meara's epilepsy came into her life.  Through this experience we are learning to be better people.  To focus on connection with others through openness and vulnerability and not to get wrapped up in the "race" for power and control.  Love and let go.  It isn't easy!  But, we'll get a lot of practice.

If you can squeeze in some extra prayers please keep those parents and children in mind who are here on their first visit.  I've been meeting them while getting coffee and in the elevators.  They are exhausted, worried, and not sure of what will happen next.  They just want to fix what is wrong with their little ones.  Pray that they have peace and acceptance in their journey.

Thanks for keeping up with the blog.  It might keep bouncing from latest status updates on Meara to a thirsty mind and soul dump of feelings and thoughts.  I hope that is okay.  My goal is to capture our hearts talking to us throughout this journey so that when life pulls us back into the daily hustle and bustle we can be reminded of the deeper meaning of life.

Peace and Love,
Aaron & Megan

  3. Hear that?

It's the sound of Good Thoughts being sent your way from all your friends and Meara's fan club, which is--I'm told--bigger than Bieber's fan club by a mile.

Keep the updates coming. Go, Meara, Go!
